My name is Jim Phillips. I was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and have spent the past 38 years living near the coast in Jacksonville, North Carolina. What brought me to Jacksonville originally was my career as a graphic artist with Coastal Carolina Community College. My formal education is a BS in Commercial Design, which earned me a long and satisfying career. I retired with 36 years in the education field as a graphic artist. Now that I’m retired I will devote all my time towards painting. I have been painting and experimenting with different art mediums ever since my college years, however over the past couple of decades I have become most comfortable with watercolors, acrylics, and pen and ink.
I am currently teaching both watercolour and acrylics at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC.
